Loading from tape again
A couple of days ago we decided to repeat the experience of loading games from tape , but this time with my ZX Spectrum+. It is evidently a different system. Which is a funny thing to say because when I had my ZX Spectrum +2A almost 40 years ago I didn’t really know there were different systems , I just had a “computer”. In this case, the biggest change is that the ZX Spectrum+ doesn’t come with a built-in tape drive, so I had to find one I bought a few years ago and I had misplaced somewhere. Technically speaking you don’t need a tape drive, because you can plug the audio output from your pho

Re: Online Friends Are Real Friends
A few days ago I booked my flights to not only attend a professional event, but also visit and stay with one of my best friends next month. This will be the sixth time that at least one of us has traveled to hang out with the other. We met each other online six years ago via Reddit (and to some degree, Instagram back when I still had an account) simply through shared interests. Never in my life did I suspect I would befriend someone online to such a degree that they feel like a true brother to me. I liked Absurd Pirate's post because it made me reflect on my own online friendships, which are s

Why the "For You" tab sucks
I ran an experiment last week. For a few days, I forced myself to only check X's "For You" tab instead of my curated "Following" feed. I wanted to understand what everyone's talking about when they complain about algorithmic timelines. The result? I literally felt my brain rotting in real-time. The Attention Economy's Dirty Secret Here's what nobody tells you about algorithmic feeds: they're not designed to inform you. They're designed to keep you scrolling. Every post that shows up in "Fo

Outside temperature today 5 degrees. Roxanne's use of Finnish language: 0%. I am going to start this blog with a quote from Tomas Linden: Btw. I enjoyed reading your travelblog! Especially the end when you write that you are coming to ”Vessa”. Vessa is toilet in Finnish The city you will be visiting is Vaasa (in Finnish, Sannas mothertongue) and Vasa (in Swedish, my mothertongue). OOPS. Messed that one up didn't I? When we arrive, I'll be sure to comment on the toilet(iness) of the city. Nah, I've been before, it is beautiful. I can't wait to go again. The main purpose of this trip was to come

Rabbit Holes v01
A few days ago I did some changes in my internal infrastructure, just adding a router and some cables. Then when I wanted to create a nice diagram just for fun, tried mermaid.live but couldn’t find nice icons and the local installation threw me some errors with my chrome version (which I cannot update yet due to other project that I’m working on). So I switch to diagrams and found that the debian package is outdated and cannot be installed in sid.

Updated Review of ENT: "Two Days and Two Nights"
Approaching the Enterprise season 1 finale. Here is my revised review of "Two Days and Two Nights", in which everyone gets laid on Risa, though not quite in the same way.
