Basics Anki : ✅ Tones : ❌ Immersion : ❌ Miscellaneous Thoughts Spoke Chinese for the first time today. I think she understood me? I have no idea what she replied though lol. It was also my first time hearing Chinese in real life since studying and it’s cool how I can catch a few words every once in a while. One step at a time

Basics Anki : ✅ Tones : ❌ Immersion : ❌ Miscellaneous Thoughts Ramadan came and completely fell off the wagon lol. Time to slowly try and work my way back up again and try and have some consistency by the end of the year. Maybe some Italki lessons or speaking stuff for encouragement? At the end of the day, I'm not trying to get suuuper fluent just some basic competency in the spoken language.

Basics Anki : ✅ Tones : ❌ Immersion : ❌ Miscellaneous Thoughts Chinese is slowly coming back although the only thing I'm doing right now is reviews. Once reviews hit less than 10 reps a day, I'll start adding new cards back in the mix. 1 There was a point where I was doing just one new card a day to at least make some progress, but I ended up stopping. One new card a day is probably the better idea to keep moment going but couldn't be bothered tbh 🤷 ↩

How much oxygen comes from the ocean?
Scientists estimate that 50-80% of the oxygen production on Earth comes from the ocean. The majority of this production is from oceanic plankton — drifting plants, algae, and some bacteria that can photosynthesize. One particular species, Prochlorococcus, is the smallest photosynthetic organism on Earth. But this little bacteria produces up to 20% of the oxygen in our entire biosphere. That’s a higher percentage than all of the tropical rainforests on land combined. Continue reading →

What is latitude?
Lines of latitude, also called parallels, are imaginary lines that divide the Earth. They run east to west, but measure your distance north or south. The equator is the most well known parallel. At 0 degrees latitude, it equally divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern hemispheres. From the equator, latitude increases as you travel north or south, reaching 90 degrees at each pole. What is longitude?
Lines of longitude, also called meridians, are imaginary lines that divide the Earth. They run north to south from pole to pole, but they measure the distance east or west. The prime meridian, which runs through Greenwich, England, has a longitude of 0 degrees. It divides the Earth into the eastern and western hemispheres. The antimeridian is on the opposite side of the Earth, at 180 degrees longitude. Though the antimeridian is the basis for the international date line, actual date and time zone boundaries are dependent on local laws. The international date line zigzags around borders near th
