The need to be certain drives uncertainty

Source: The Quantum Garden ·

This year I've been thinking about confidence ratings. I find that when clients don't sufficiently understand the technology decision in front of them, then instead of relying on the advice given, they seek certainty (or 100% confidence). Even when I'm highly confident I have the right answer, this can trigger a need for me to feel like I need certainty as well and that leads to second-guessing and double-checking. I know and support the Colin Powell 40-70 rule says it's ok to move without complete certainty so having noticed this behaviour I'm curious to find a way to cut across it. Email a c
