Feature: 25 Years Later, How Many Of These Original Xbox Launch Titles Have You Played?
From the original North American launch on November 15, 2001. Welcome to the month of Xbox's 25th anniversary! Xbox will be celebrating that milestone officially on November 15th, but before we get there, we thought we'd use the chance to highlight the very first games that ever launched on Xbox. To do that, we're going back to the initial list of North American Xbox launch titles, of which there were 20 in all. Some of them are obvious standouts, such as Halo: Combat Evolved , Fuzion Frenzy , Dead or Alive 3 and Project Gotham Racing , while others are more obscure - Arctic Thunder, Dark Summ

OG Xbox Game 'Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee' Gets Remastered, But What Do The Critics Think?
Was it worth digging the original Xbox title back up? Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee launched on the original Xbox in 2003, a few months after its GameCube debut, and sadly, only in North America. The kaiju arena-brawler, which depicted the iconic King of Monsters, Godzilla, body-slamming Ghidorah into various cityscapes, has apparently made a big enough impact to warrant Atari funding a remaster in 2026. Sadly, the whole North American release made it quite difficult for us Brits to get our mucky mitts on the game, and DAMM wasn't a big enough deal for Xbox to share the game with the re

'Too Big A Risk' - Game Developer Sparks Debate After Delaying Playtest Due To AI Concerns
Will it push us towards a more cloud-focused future? As AI continues to adopt a bigger influence in the gaming industry, there have been concerns in some circles about how people can use AI to reverse-engineer games, including for upcoming titles that haven't even been released yet. This became a particular talking point a couple of weeks ago when Moonlighter developer Digital Sun Games decided to delay a planned (PC) playtest for their upcoming game ReVamp, worrying that the code might be reverse-engineered before they actually had a chance to release the full game. Two Big Remasters Are Now Lined Up For Xbox On December 3rd
Including a first-ever Xbox appearance for the original Thief! It's usually the case that December is a quiet time for new video game releases, but we've still got a few notable ones lined up for the first couple of weeks on Xbox, including two very interesting remasters on December 3rd. We already knew about the first of these - Rayman Legends Retold is coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on that date. It seems a little bit redundant to "reimagine" an Xbox One game like Rayman Legends on the face of it, but the previews have been pretty great for the most part, and there's no doubt that

Former Xbox COO Issues Lengthy Departure Statement To 'Set The Record Straight'
"This is not how I ever imagined my story here would end.". This time last week, we mentioned how newly-promoted Xbox Chief Operating Officer Helen Chiang was suddenly leaving Microsoft after 21 years , with a suggestion at the time that she may have been "terminated for policy violations". Chiang has now taken to LinkedIn to share a lengthy departure statement in which she denies she was fired for a policy violation, but nevertheless suggests concerns regarding how certain things were handled in her case. The Pokémon Company Is Counting Down To A Mysterious Date On Social Media
But what's it for? The Pokémon Company is no stranger to a little over-hyping every now and then, but its latest bit of marketing has us seriously thinking that there is a big announcement in the pipeline. You see, TPC is counting down to... something. As brought to our attention by Serebii 's Joe Merrick , the company has been sharing images on social media of its 30th anniversary icons , with a number underneath. Interestingly, these numbers decrease by the number of hours that have passed between each post — 1,025 on 18th October, 843 on 26th, 676 today. Read the full article on nintendolif

Google's Ocarina Of Time Easter Egg Will Transport You Back To The Internet Of Old
Links to the past. We love it when Google pulls out a little gaming Easter Egg. We had the inkable search engine screen for Splatoon 3 , the various Pokémon collaborations, and even a Katamari crossover . But now, Google has delivered the most nostalgic one of them all. If you Google ' Ocarina of Time ', you'll now be met with a small Master Sword icon in the bottom right corner. Clicking on said icon pushes the sword back into its pedestal and transports the search engine into the past with it. Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Review: Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered (Switch 2) - The King Returns With A Fun But Thin Kaiju Brawler
Plus One. Godzilla fans are eating well. At the time of writing, we are on the brink of a new Toho release, a direct sequel to Goji’s first Oscar-nominated film, Minus One . There's also the next entry in Legendary's MonsterVerse to sate fans of the Western arm of the franchise (even though they have been a little Kong-heavy of late). Now, Tokusatsu mayhem is coming back to consoles, as original developer Pipeworks and Atari revamp their 2002 GameCube classic Destroy All Monsters . It smashes its way onto Switch 2 with Unreal Engine 5 visuals, online multiplayer, and some nice quality-of-life

Inside job. Nintendo has just released the first two parts of a new Ask the Developer series all about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. Alongside a bunch of interesting insights about the game's development, the interview also finally reveals the development team behind it. Nintendo Wanted To Remake Ocarina Of Time To "Trigger New Insights" For Future Titles
Out with the old, in with the Aonuma. "Hang on, why is Nintendo remaking Ocarina of Time again?" It's a natural question that might have occurred to you in the last few months, and in the latest Ask the Developer interview, Series Producer Eiji Aonuma had the answer. Part of the reason for returning to the title, it turns out, was to try to "trigger new insights" from the developers that may feed into future Zelda games. "Many of the team members who work alongside me on Legend of Zelda games today have only experienced developing the more recent titles," Aonuma-san says. "That led me to wonde

Feature: Threads Of Time - The Best Ocarina References & Easter Eggs In The Wider Zelda Series
Links to the future. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece. An enduring classic that set the standard, and often the template, for virtually every single action-adventure game that followed in its footsteps. A cultural touchstone for a generation, there are references to it littered throughout its gaming descendants and beyond, but there will now be an entirely new generation of player preparing to embark upon this chapter of the Zelda story - a good chunk of whom will have only experienced a Zelda title post-N64 (or no Zelda at all). Nintendo Shares Ocarina Of Time Switch 2 Design Sketches
Ink's awakening. The latest Ask the Developer interviews are positively packed with interesting tidbits about the making of Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. One such story is all about the game's reimagined visuals, which Nintendo was even kind enough to share some initial sketches of. According to Art Director Aya Shida, the team was consciously fighting a battle between making the game more realistic with the improved power of the Switch 2, and retaining the spirit of the original — a somewhat dark world, filled with weird characters. She therefore relied on phrases like “a puppet-show feel” and

Review: Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy: Encore Edition (Switch 2) - A Bright And Charming Adventure With An Okay Port
The cloudy skies have cleared. While cloud streaming has its benefits, nothing beats having a native version of a game. Guardians of the Galaxy launched on the first Nintendo Switch as a Cloud version, and that experience wasn’t really recommended. Now, the game is having an Encore Edition on Switch 2 with an actual port. It’s the same fun adventure, but with some performance caveats. Guardians of the Galaxy follows Peter Quill as Star-Lord, as he travels the galaxy with his ragtag team of heroes: Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Groot, and Gamora. It starts out as a scrappy adventure of them trying to g

Resident Evil Requiem Drops To Lowest Price, But For One Day Only
Resident Evil Requiem is brilliant. I don’t need to tell you that—the critical scores across the board, feedback from both fans and newcomers, and the fact that Leon Kennedy returns are enough evidence to support my opinion. Halloween may be dead until next year, but what hasn’t died is the need to defeat hordes of infected. With the latest Resident Evil game cheaper than ever, there’s no better time to buy it. You only have one day to get it at this price, though. What makes Resident Evil Requiem one of the best horror games and one of the best entries in the franchise is how it balances the

The start of the month is a good time to be an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, as that's when Microsoft reveals the next batch of games coming to the service. November is frontloaded with new game releases before November 19-- we can't imagine why --and several of them are day-one releases. Once more games are revealed, we'll update this post.
