Ar-Rahbah Market at Amman Design Week 2026 / Laith Matarweh Studio for Architecture
The proposal conceives Ar-Rahbah as an open urban void that mediates movement while accommodating social and commercial activities. Its cubic form draws from the cubic geometries that characterize the urban fabric of Amman , abstracting the continuous aggregation of built volumes into a lightweight and permeable market structure.

A Walk on the Roof: Linnahall and Tallinn’s Shifting Shoreline
From the end of Mere Boulevard in Tallinn , Linnahall appears as a long, low mass of limestone and concrete laid between the Old Town and the bay, kept deliberately beneath the line of the medieval silhouette so that the spires remain visible from the water. Broad stairways climb its flanks to a roof paved as a public square, and from there a sequence of terrace steps down toward a small pier, a helicopter pad and the open Gulf of Finland . Under that surface sit an amphitheater for 4,200 people, a foyer of 6,000 square meters, an ice hall, cafés, a bowling alley and a recording studio.

The midterms’ biggest branding trend? Centrism
When Griffin Glaze, a graphic designer, got the job to design James Talarico’s campaign branding , she had just 10 days to do it. Talarico, a Texan who is running for a seat in the U.S. Senate, wanted something that looked unique and nonpartisan. “A lot of what they were looking for was something that felt different,” Glaze tells Fast Company . The North Carolina designer came up with a visual identity inspired by hand-painted signage at Baptist churches, with texture and imperfection designed into its typography and asterisks for decorative Texas stars. Though they tried out different color p

Major League Baseball’s new look pays homage to the sport’s history
Major League Baseball has a new look, courtesy of an all-star lineup of type designers. In 2020, after MLB moved to its new headquarters in New York City, it reached out to Mother Design , the branding and design agency behind work for brands like Cadillac, Tripadvisor, and the scented water bottle Air Up . The league was looking to expand professional baseball’s fandom and talent, and it wanted its visual identity to feel unified. Beginning in late 2022, Mother Design started building out MLB’s new brand architecture, which was introduced beginning in 2024 on a rolling basis. The league’s fam

An Alternate Take on Booklights
Here's a peculiar device that, if the reviews are to be believed, a subset of book readers love: The AwesomePre , a portable book light designed by Seoul-based ID firm Bebop . Rather than being a light that shines on your book from a distance, it instead resembles a screen and is placed atop the page. The device uses an LED technology developed by client MemsLux, which apparently uses "light wavelengths most comfortable to the eyes." The obvious use case is if you're reading in bed and don't want to disturb a sleeping partner. I could also see this being useful on airplanes, where I find the r

The (Partially) Hide-Away Urban Desk
This Urban Desk is by UrbanNature, a space-saving furniture brand started by German industrial designer Jörg Brachmann. It's not a full hideaway desk, but tucks its lower worksurface away in order to become less obtrusive. The mechanism is low-tech and human-powered. "The fixed superstructure remains in place when the desk is extended. This means the monitor, lamp, and work accessories don't need to be rearranged each time. Two integrated A4-sized drawers provide additional storage for documents and everyday office supplies." The Urban Desk is made of Ash, and sells in Europe for €995 (USD $1,
