Stranger Things 5 Bingo
Just want to quickly drop my bingo card before vol 2 release. I’ve been on Tumblr devouring all the theories after watching vol 1. 也在微博高强度冲浪。I’ll probably share more thoughts next year. I’m so thrilled! Merry Christmas 🎄 and Bylermas 💙💛

Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 - a top notch adaptation
Disclaimer: All media is used under fair use for commentary. They belong to their respective owners. No infringement intended. I’m sure many anime fans are hyped for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3. I’m seriously impressed too, especially by the stylish taste of background artwork and the insane quality of battle scenes. There are some scenes that made me feel the director went too far. For example, the now-meme-ified Naoya aura farming scene is NOT even from the manga, LOL. Viral marketing stunt aside, the anime adaptation is doing a great job at elevating the visual storytelling and evoking stronger

Recent life events and such
I'm going to babble a lot so bear with me. Not until few days ago, I started to feel the mysterious energy that only new year could bring. I've always been very slow at things, as if my senses are not in the same timeline with the physical progression of time and space. In Chinese we say “新年新气象” (≈ new year, new beginnings/fresh new look). And now 1/12 of a year has passed, I finally began to feel things are settling down. Random life updates: I created a plan for injury prevention exercises in between climbing days. The focus is on finger rehab, antagonist training, mobility and endurance. It

The dead fin whale on Oregon Coast
On February 9, I drove to the Sunset Beach to see a dead fin whale. I've always been fascinated by whales, so this was a rare opportunity to get close to an actual whale (since I haven't learned diving). Being with such a magnificent creature makes you feel awe. As I finally have the time to write a post about it, I wanted to check out the latest news about this whale. Because I'm curious about what happen to it. Current Status: Unknown It took me quite a while to find anything that's not from 3 weeks ago—that's around the time when it was first discovered. People just seemed to, or perhaps ar

三十路の色々
For those who think this post is in Japanese because of the title...I'm sorry. I'm going to write in Chinese. The title just pops into my head, and it fits. Life update: I'm no longer in between jobs ...which instigates my sudden desire to express.

Life is just a bowl of cherries
Haven't been posted for a while because I'm in a transition period. And I got overwhelmed by all the things that demand my attention. Ever since the start of my new job 1 , I've been experiencing quite a lot of brain fry. But it doesn't not all come from work, although work should take the majority of the blame. It's just that way too many things had happened in a short span of time. Pseudo-moving, apartment hunting, family reunion (+ drama), company outing (first time in my life), a professional workshop, rotting in the heat due to loss of power... And there were so many last minute actions.

Living with humidity
⚠️Trigger warning: bugs I didn't know that so many things could go wrong when you live in a highly humid area. I probably shouldn't say I don't know, because I came from a town where it's highly humid—like, all the time. It has the worst kind of summer AND winter: not only is it usually at untolerable temperature, it's also humid, which amplifies how you feel in a very unpleasant way. I should've known how to deal with humidity, but that was too long ago, plus I was too young to care. Or my mom also didn't want me to care, as my primary mission should be "studying". (You might ask, how about m

Vibe coding paradox
There's been a massive shift in what we used to call "vibe coding" just a few months ago. Back then, real developers dismissed it as a toy for non-technical people: something fun but not serious. Now I'm seeing engineers at all levels letting Claude Code and other AI tools handle the heavy lifting. Such an irony. Vibe coding has become genuinely useful for engineers who understand the underlying systems. We can move faster, prototype quicker, and automate the tedious stuff while still knowing

Why the "For You" tab sucks
I ran an experiment last week. For a few days, I forced myself to only check X's "For You" tab instead of my curated "Following" feed. I wanted to understand what everyone's talking about when they complain about algorithmic timelines. The result? I literally felt my brain rotting in real-time. The Attention Economy's Dirty Secret Here's what nobody tells you about algorithmic feeds: they're not designed to inform you. They're designed to keep you scrolling. Every post that shows up in "Fo

New blog
I know how people say that the tool doesn’t matter. And it is actually true, but I noticed that when I get stuck with something, actually changing the tool I am using helps me a lot. It gives me another perspective or helps me to see something that I haven’t seen before. That’s why I always spend time looking for new tools or optimizing something that I am using now And the same thing happened with my blogging journey. I haven’t posted anything here for a long time. And I decided to do somethin

Page Roulette
I had some free time over Memorial Day, so I finally built something I’d been thinking about for a while. I decided to let AI redesign my personal page — and refresh it every day. That’s how Page Roulette was born. I created a few templates, picked color palettes and fonts I like, and locked in the text and photos that should never change. Then every night at 12am EST, a GitHub Action runs, sends my design notes to the OpenAI API, and comes back with instructions for a new version of the site.

Draw me a picture
A few years ago, a friend of mine, Arthur — developer and a proud boat captain — told me about an idea he had: connect a mini computer to a printer on his boat and ask people to send him emails. If someone sent one, it would print right there on board. I always thought it was a really great idea. I’m not sure if he ever built it, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So I built my own version. I dug out my old Raspberry Pi — the one my friend Daniel gave me years ago when I was just learning

I start to like AI art
I've always had this thing for visuals. I studied art and architecture, spent years learning to see the world through composition, proportion, light. I even wear Figma cap! That instinct to create never really left, it just ran out of room somewhere between deadlines and everything else life piles on. Honestly, for a long time I thought AI image tools were just a cute toy. Fun to poke at for five minutes, nothing serious. And I get why people feel that way: you can spot lazy AI slop from a mil

I built the budgeting app I always wanted
When I started my professional career, my financial life was not perfect. I was not making much money, and because of that, I had a pretty flawed idea about budgeting. My thinking was simple: if there is not much money, what is there to budget? Looking back, that was completely wrong. Budgeting is not about how much you make. It is about knowing what you actually have. That realization took years to arrive. But when it did, it changed how I thought about money entirely. One night I realized

C'mon Apple, you can do better than this
Building my first iOS app, I figured the hard part would be the code. Turns out the hard part was Apple's paperwork. Total time from paying for the dev program to my app actually being live: three weeks. And I actually paied for that → $99/year, plus 30% of every sale. First hurdle: the tax form. There's a field for your legal name, pulled straight from your Apple account, and you can't edit it. Problem: my account didn't have my legal name on it. So the form just... wouldn't let me finish.
