“Our attention is all we have. And we already gave away a huge percentage of it to machine learning algorithms 10 years ago, and we are living in an intensely different and I think worse world because of it.” Was 2016 a sneaky inflection point?

Do you think you could write down the names of 3000 people? “As part of a competition with a few friends, I attempted the very dumb challenge of trying to write the names of 3,000 real people in one sitting. It took 7 hours, but I did it.”

How Human Civilization Began
In a recent video , Kurzgesagt explores what we know about the first human civilizations that formed some 12,000 years ago and how they led to the first cities and the invention of writing. What we know about human history is only a fraction of the full story. Much of the rest is like dark matter, invisible to us. We can’t see it, and we can only see the effects of its presence. But thanks to new techniques for DNA sequencing, dating ancient detritus, mathematical models, and aerial and lidar archaeology, we are now able to get a faint idea of what this world might have looked and felt like. Agents struggle with the same bad UX we do
Computer-use agents can’t guess, improvise, or ask a coworker. That makes them the most honest usability testers we’ve ever had. The first time I watched an agent fail on a vendor portal, I recognized the failure immediately. Not because I understood the model. Because I’d failed in exactly the same place myself. For example, I watched a run where an agent reached a form that had two buttons labeled “Continue” and “Submit”, chose the wrong one, and the run stalled. This wasn’t the agent’s fault, it was bad UX. I design products at Deck, where we build infrastructure for computer-use agents: so

I let AI build. I don’t let AI decide.
A long workbench split down the middle, finished tools stacked on one side and a single open notebook on the other. My list of tasks I give models without a second thought and what I review until the tools evolve. I’ve used generative models for almost four years and designed machine learning applications for seven before that, so people ask what I delegate. I approach this as an apologist, someone who makes the case for the technology in the right context. That’s generous, since an OpenAI model declared me dead in 2023. As far as public reports available up to my latest update (October 2024),

Everyone is building AI agents. Who’s designing the stop button?
We used to design predictable user flows. Now AI can interpret, decide, and act on its own. Here’s why the hardest design decisions happen where that autonomy ends. Showing where AI stops in the flow — by gpt In September 2025, researchers at Thinking Machines Lab ran the same prompt through a language model 1,000 times. They set the temperature to zero, a setting that should, in theory, make token selection deterministic. They got 80 different completions from the same prompt, model, and settings. What’s even more interesting is that all 1,000 outputs were identical for the first 102 tokens.

The Vineyard HOUSE? / Lauti Esain
The Vineyard ?HOUSE? On September 10, 2022, at 12:29 p.m., I broke ground with the first of thousands of shovels I would dig to build my house. But the story began in my second year of architecture school, when I lost my parents. That was when I started working and saving, just in case something happened to me. Then, a dream emerged: to live on a vineyard. I decided that if I didn't need to use those savings upon graduating, I would use them to build my house. When I graduated, my savings were enough for 215 sq ft (20 m²), but by building it with my own hands, I could save on labor costs and r

House Toca / ARKITITO Arquitetura
Going against the grain of a traditional residence, Casa Toca emerges from a diverse program that includes domestic spaces, an art studio, a music studio, and areas for gatherings — reflecting the lifestyle of its residents, architect Tito Ficarelli and visual artist Luiza Gottschalk, who are also responsible for the design. This is the third home conceived and built by the couple for different stages of their life together.
