Tech Firms Dismantle Botnet That Turned 1.3M TV Boxes Into Proxies
Google said today it worked with industry partners to dismantle a botnet made up of more than 1.3 million Android TV set-top boxes that ship with malicious software which secretly rents the user's Internet connection out to strangers and conducts advertising fraud. Experts involved in the takedown say the action is likely to sever the botnet's access to more than 10 million additional compromised systems, including other Internet of Things (IoT) products such as Android-based healthcare devices and karaoke machines.

llm 0.37
Release: llm 0.37 There's a lot of stuff in this new release of my LLM CLI tool and Python library, representing around two months of accumulated features and fixes. I added gpt-6.1-sol and gpt-6.1-terra , plus a new llm openai endpoint add command to make it easier to configure additional models that use OpenAI-compatible endpoints. I switched the default model (if you have not set your own default) to gpt-6-luna - half the price of the previous default, gpt-5.6-luna . LLM's support for embeddings now accepts that different binary content may have different content-type - necessary for models

It’s native SwiftUI across Apple’s platforms, and the App Store just featured it in “Great apps on iPhone Duo”. We’re Apple people, but we think it’s the best shared calendar on Android too. Free to try, then a low monthly group subscription. No ads, no t

Study Claims Vizio Simply Ignores 'Smart' TV Spying Opt Out Requests
An anonymous reader quotes a report from Techdirt: Recently, reports emerged that LG TVs are sniffing around your local network, and even listening to your local environment, even when the TV is purportedly "off." Some of those voice commands were then stored in plain text and uploaded to the internet. LG's response? To deny everything. [...] That latter point is central to a new study out of Northeastern that conducted 5,943 experiments across twelve commercial "smart" TV devices. The researchers found that most smart TVs utilize automatic content recognition (ACR), a technology that captures
